Hobbs Brook – 225 Wyman Street

Project Scope

This build spans across 6 acres and is located off Route 128 and I-95. The project entailed three major components: a complete electrical infrastructure install for a new 500,000SF core and shell building designed for future lab fit-outs; a complete electrical infrastructure for a new 100,000SF 6-story parking garage including EV charging stations; and the renovation of an existing 20,000SF site utility plant to increase capacity of the incoming service feeding the two new buildings. Other parts of the project included the fit-outs of the kitchen, fitness and conference center areas.

Special Challenges

Project required coordination of a 35-member crew working across the 3 buildings to ensure seamless and simultaneous completion. Utility plant distribution equipment needed to be rigged into place over open trenches and through an oversized opening in exterior wall of electric room. The main building 2-story penthouse required close coordination with other trades to navigate around each discipline’s work. The precast garage was built in vertical sections, which made it necessary to install conduits as each section was put in place.
